For many wine connoisseurs, having a cellar in their home is the ultimate luxury. Whether you have the space for a large walk-in cellar or just enough room for a stylish niche to display your favorite bottles, these trending wine cellars provide a bounty of inspiration. Here are ideas taken from the most popular wine cellars as measured by the number of people saving photos of them to their Houzz ideabooks recently. Where would you most like to uncork your next bottle of wine?
1. Rustic refinement. This guesthouse wine cellar in Greenwich, Connecticut, includes custom-constructed oak storage. “In looking at French buildings, a lot of the towers are for pigeons and open on the ground floor, so you see the timber construction all the way up. So we did that here too, but finished in between the timbers,” architect Charles Hilton says. Limestone and brick pavers on the floor connect the exterior and interior.
2. Converted closet. While the space under the stairs often makes for a great entryway closet or even a guest bathroom, a wine cellar may be the most luxurious use for this sometimes wasted space. This modern Dallas home features a climate-controlled wine cellar with a glass door.

3. Gorgeous glass. If you want an elegant backdrop for your dining room, a wall of glass with an enclosed wine cellar is a sure winner. This Los Angeles home provides a big dose of drama on a grand scale.
4. Radiant room divider. Fireplaces and bookshelves are often used to break up great rooms by creating a distinction between the dining and living areas. This contemporary home in Las Vegas instead uses a stunning glass-enclosed wine cellar to separate the spaces.
5. Terrific tiles. This exotic wine cellar in Chicago, designed by Abruzzo Kitchen & Bath, sports stunning painted tin tiles on the ceiling and patterned cement tiles on the floor. The custom wine cabinets wrapping the space finish the scene.
6. Beach-inspired bold. Although beach house decor may not necessary evoke thoughts of a wine cellar, this residence in Laguna Beach, California, embraces its oceanfront location. Lined with gray-washed walls, the wine cellar stays consistent with the rest of the home’s coastal-chic style.
7. Killer kitchen niche. If you don’t have room for a fully enclosed wine cellar, making the most of any extra space, corner or niche in your home can do the trick. This kitchen niche in a Houston home was transformed by designer Cindy Aplanalp-Yates to provide an intimate wine-tasting spot in the heart of the home.
8. Bar room bonus. A built-in bar in the basement is at the top of many homeowner wish lists. If space allows, putting a large wine rack next to the bar, as designer Martha O’Hara did here, adds a bonus for those wine-loving guests.
9. Architectural accents. This Mediterranean-style home in Houston uses its classic arches and niches to integrate wine racks that fit in perfectly with the architecture.
10. Ebony elegance. This sophisticated dining room by Jamieson Design features a blackened steel candle chandelier, an ebony dining table and bench, and a wall of black-framed glass doors opening to a dramatically lit wine cellar that makes for a stunning backdrop.

With any wine cellar, you need to ensure proper temperature and humidity conditions for storage. It's sometimes an overlooked element in wine cellar designs, since it's not a visual element to the cellar, but it's critical to preserving your wine investment.
