Personal Favorites: Exterior Styles Pending Locale and Site Choices
This is to try to begin to create the feel for what we want from our own living space. First, I want a home that “sits lightly” on the land. The architecture should be a frame to display the living art that resides within it. It is not itself the artwork. “Your home ought to hold you, feed you, tell you a story and allow you to rest.” (from the Houzz Ideabook, “Creative Personality in 1000 Sq. Ft.” by Sarah Greenman, on this site)
Exterior architectural styling will depend greatly on locale and site. This tiny "Spanish" cottage with its stucco walls, tile roof and low slung ranch profile has long been a personal favorite for me. It is warm, earthy, and unpretentious.
