Guest Picks: Living Room
This one is similar to the Petrie with the shape and tufting, but a little less expensive. I would go for it in gray. I wish I could compare them side by side for comfiness level.
This might be my favorite of the three sofas I'm debating between: sleek, comfy and a nice shade. I've heard great things about Room and Board sofas but this particular one has mixed reviews. I'm not sure it's enough to deter me though.
I'm pretty set on this chair. It's a cool tulip shape, just big enough to be cozy but still sleek looking. Oh, and it's my favorite shade of leather. I think it will look great with our dark wood floors. I better get it while it's still on sale!
I love the pretty shade of blue on this chair. I also like its high back, so it will contrast well with a lower-set couch and tulip-shaped chair. Question: Can you mix fabric, like velvet and leather? I hope so.
I like the industrial look of this table and the fact that it would be nearly indestructible. Debating whether it would mix well with the rest of the furniture, but I think it could look cool to put two together for a coffee table — in a pinch they could double as extra seating.
Love the cool, sleek design and the color of this one. It would definitely fit with the furniture and not feel heavy but the price is a little much for a coffee table. We'll see if I can cut some corners somewhere else!
You can always rely on a Parsons piece to look nice. In person, this is a really lovely warm shade of wood, with lots of space for a nice book display and maybe to kick up your heels. My only worry is that it's a little bulky for the space.
I love the look of hairpin legs — definitely not bulky. But I'm considering brushing up on my shop class skills and trying to make my own. If that fails, this one's my back-up.
We Denver residents are still excited about finally getting an IKEA! Just in time to help furnish our house. I like the thin metal legs on this table but I'll need to see it in person to confirm it actually looks good.
I've been debating for a month now on which rug would look best. I love DwellStudio's patterns and think this is classic looking. And my husband's not questioning it!
You can't really go wrong with stripes. Another one from DwellStudio that has caught my eye, it would add a nice graphic touch to the space. I would need to watch out for red Kool-Aid stains of course!
Another striped rug that brings a graphic punch but is less expensive. I've seen this in several spaces and always think it looks great.
Another great graphic pattern, but with a little less worry about stains. I think it would look great with the furniture but worry about it not contrasting enough with the dark floors. I'm still a fan.
I've had a hard time finding a media center that is good looking — they're all so bulky and generic. I've started to look at buffets and low dressers that could act as one. This one is my favorite because of its thin legs, good storage space and white-and-wood finish. Two hurdles to jump over: my husband doesn't like the shiny white and the price is a little high for us new homeowners.
This media center is better than most that I've seen. It's a simple enough design, I like the metal legs and the price is right. The only problem is there's no way it could hold all of our DVDs.
This is a dresser, but I definitely think it could double as a media unit. Good storage space, low height, and hairpin legs make it a top contender.
Another industrial-looking table that I love. Even though it might seem a little cold, if you pair it with warmer pieces and wood it would bring a nice mix to the room.
Of course, you can't forget the finishing touches like throw pillows. I love these hand-blocked printed ones, and chevron seems to be the pattern of the moment.
Not only do I love the geometric pattern of this pillow, the color combo is spot on — although if you add mustard yellow and sky blue to anything I will probably like it. Next: More products for around the home
This sofa is one that I've admired for years. Maybe it's because I fondly watched The Dick Van Dyke Show with my mom when I was younger, or it could be the classic shape, tufting and perfect charcoal color in which it's also available.
