Little Red Brick Ranch - curb appeal
First we are tackling the curb appeal of our 70’s red brick ranch front yard. Currently, it has, IMO, little curb appeal, but since the last time I posted, with suggestions from others on Houzz, we have made some progress, incorporated ideas and now believe we are on the right path! We will try to keep the basic look of the 70's ranch, incorporating a little bit of a cottage style. We will not (at this time) paint the brick - I want to live with it for awhile! We will leave the "aprons" below the windows, keep the "wart" but beef up the windows and trim (all new windows will be added to the front - not sure to have grids, leave them clear...all that to be decided! Searching for colors. Want to change door color for sure - going back and front between tea, blue, or red; thinking dark gray architectual shutters with hardware, bay window (lovingly referred to as a "wart"), aprons below side windows to be a color closely matching the grout (greige of some sort)I believe with lots of help and advice we can bring out the hidden charm of this little rancher!
The next BIG decision to be made! Replacing shutters and all frong windows with energy efficient ones for sure. Should I leave shutters long (as shown) or shutters to the window ledge. Want to add a Window box and have shutters that are "correct" and will be are large enough that if closed would meet in middle of window; want to use appropriate hardware. Foundation plantings will continue to be modified. Suggestions?
Maybe this color for front door???
