What to do with the TV?
We need them, we want them, but large flatscreen TVs are problematic when it comes to designing around them. To conceal or to embrace? That is the question.

...so of course I had to add this mirror TV, also by Seura, that looks like a framed mirror on the wall. Clever.

Now, here is a new idea: the Enhanced Series TV mirror by Seura. When turned off, it appears to be just a mirror. This isn't for everyone, but what a great idea!

I love the look of this elegant treatment that places the TV and fireplace together and maximizes the use of both.

Sliding doors cleverly conceal this flatscreen TV above a bar area.

This flatscreen TV built into a paneled wall could almost go unnoticed. The obvious disadvantage i that if you need to replace the TV at some point, you must replace it with one the exact size of the panel to make it work as well as it does now.

I think it's the dark grey of the bookshelf unit that makes this TV fade into the background of the room.

I can imagine that there may be a TV hidden behind the doors over this fireplace, which might provide a reasonable viewing angle if one were lying in bed. At any rate, I love the barn door hardware for this application.

Here's a totally traditional setting that incorporates a flatscreen over a fireplace with cabinets covering the entire wall.

I especially like the way this designer kept the TV at a decent viewing height by using the right fireplace underneath it. Although the TV is a focal point in this room, the treatment is very nice. A horizontal shelf provides a "ceiling" for the TV wall, as well as ambient and spot lighting.

Housed in more traditional cabinetry, the TV sits at a good viewing level. It is possible that tambour doors are tucked back into the columns.

This clean, straightforward treatment puts the TV in its place without hiding it. It's visible, but somehow it doesn't take over the room.

Flatscreen TV, and speakers peacefully coexist with a gas fireplace, a piano and an art collection in this wonderfully serene setting.

This dark-toned wall system surrounds the screen and provides housing for speakers.

This built-in bookcase houses the TV and speakers and folding doors cover the screen when it's off.

In a room dedicated to video, this TV wall has been beautifully constructed to get the most viewing pleasure.

While mounting a TV over a fireplace continues to be a controversial subject, hiding the flatscreen behind cabinet doors allows the fireplace to take center stage when the TV is off.

Enclosed in sleek cabinetry, this fireplace and flatscreen TV share the focal point.
