Small cottage bathrooms
YES. 3. This integrates everything we need, except needs more color. I have a sneaky idea of putting a tiny tub under the bench. "This bathroom is a perfect example of how a wheel chair accessible shower can be beautiful. This shower walls and ceiling are beautifully tiled with Carrera marble 12"x24" tiles in an offset pattern . The floor is a small mosaic Carrera with a black accent tile. the small mosaic makes for a slip resistant flooring. There is an integrated channel drain hidden by the flooring tile. Beautiful oil rubbed bronze plumbing fixtures play off the black accent tile, even the hand bar to assist with standing and moving is oil rubbed bronze. Extra large shower bench. Steam shower"
Berkeley Traditional Universal Design Bathroom “Instead, she worked with the homeowner to make sure his wheelchair had enough room toaccess the sink and shower comfortably. Other new universal-design moves included getting rid of the tub-shower combo for a curbless shower with bi-fold doors; new secure grab bars; a fold-down shower seat (giving the option of taking a wheelchairshower); a sink at a comfortable height with room for a wheelchair beneath it; a tilted mirror; pullout drawers in the vanity that are easier to access than doors; and a toilet that doubles as a bidet with an easy-to-access control panel.”
Berkeley Traditional Universal Design Bathroom “AFTER: The new curbless shower with space-saving bifold doors lets John wheel in and transfer to a fold-down bench. The bench can fold up so he can take a wheelchair shower. Hofmann put the drain under the doors so the water drips directly off the doors into the drain, preventing puddling outside the shower. And being extra cautious of a too-slippery environment, she chose tile with a slightly rough surface and more grout lines for better traction.” Also has niche. Maybe glass doors are not necessary.
Handicapped-Accessible and Universal Design Showers - is this tiny bathroom truly accessible? Seems like the shower curtain wouldn't be necessary. "This small 5' x 7' space had a tub removed and a roll in shower added to make it wheelchair accessible. A "wet room" space was created by making the entire bathroom one level vs. having a step over shower curb."
Yes. 1. Light, accessible, small, pretty. White tile. Blue tile. The colors the most important.
