Guest Picks: Clever Ways to Use Repurposed Mason Jars in Your Kitchen
Truth be told, I may be a bit of a mason jar junkie. I have soooo many of them floating around, and in regular use in my kitchen—though not for what most people would think. I’ve made my share of preserves and jams, and you can’t beat a mason jar for optimum canning ability. That’s for sure.
What I also love about mason jars is that they’re super useful for things around the kitchen that don’t involve canning. These days, mason jars are our primary go-to when it’s time for a cocktail - just add gin, simple syrup, lime juice, and ice to the jar, cover it and shake vigorously for 30 seconds, then top off with seltzer. VOILA! Single serve cocktail ease.
And with brilliant ideas like after market lids with spill-proof straw holes, my kids can enjoy drinks other than water in the living room without worry (mine, not theirs). Beyond the food stuff, though, there are a host of other ways to repurpose mason jars (my favorite is the hanging light fixtures).
