How to Add a Purple Sofa to your Home
I am currently in the market for a new sofa. I've looked at several interesting designs (finding round sofas to be most appealing). I've looked at several different materials. But ultimately I think it's going to be the color of the sofa that makes the difference between liking it and buying it for me.
I originally thought I'd like to get a deep red sofa but then I started to notice the color purple popping up here and there in my sofa search. I've decided that the purple sofa is right for me. In my case, a deep and dark purple on a comfortable couch with a modern design sounds perfectly right.
Finding the right sofa is one thing. Decorating around a purple sofa is another. Should I go the eclectic route and make the room really bold? Or should I go the opposite way and tone down the boldness of the purple with neutral design? How do you add a purple sofa to your home?

This is my favorite example of purple sofas. They are modern and have a great hue. What really makes this work is the fact that the rest of the decor is black, white and a dark colored wood. Combined with the elegant shape of the furniture, this makes for a very rich room.
On the other hand, the eclectic living room is a great place for a purple sofa. Admittedly, there are a lot of interesting things competing for your attention here. That's why the light shade of purple works better than a bold color would. The sofa remains an interesting part of the decor because of its unusual shape and great pillows.
A couch that is purple with a print is a great addition to a room. You can use the colors in the couch to help determine the color palette for the rest of the room's decor.
Pair a purple sofa with bright hot pink chairs and you make a really bold statement. It remains pretty instead of gaudy because the rest of the room is so simple.
I have always been a fan of the chaise rather than the traditional sofa. This purple chaise is a nice shade that looks rich and pretty. Decorating with equally rich drapes and rugs helps to add to the luxuriousness of the space.
For a couch that looks really chic you can always choose a shade of purple that is towards the grey end of the spectrum. Remember that purple doesn't always have to be a bright color!
Another good choice is a shade of purple that looks almost blue. The blue here is drawn out by the blue in the fireplace and backsplash, showing how complementary colors really work in a room. The orange pillows show how contrasting colors can work as well creating a visually interesting playfulness in the space.
Speaking of pillows, the pillows that you choose to place on your purple sofa can have a big impact on the overall effect of the furniture. The dark green here set against the purple is just stunning.
I love the fact that the sofa here is a deep gorgeous purple but the cushions are a funky pattern. You could always reupholster your cushions to alter the look of your purple sofa.
The material that you select will affect the shade of purple that your furniture appears to have. Purple leather is tough to find but it's a very interesting choice for a sofa.

I love purple! Have a wonderful old loveseat in the attic play room that is covered in a purple cotton blanket, tucked into the seat cushion and draped around the sides. The tone is similar to your first photo.

I have purple sofas and love them! They are a similar color to the ones in the first picture, but more of a classic, casual style. They work well with the tan, dark wood and hints of lime green also in the room.

We figured the best place for a purple couch is sometimes not indoors at all.
