agree w/beverly. wall mount the tv and remove that ledge thing. is it mandatory you keep that media console? something a bit slimmer looking would be a better fit.Maybe something white from Ikea? Plus, you've got all those cords hanging out. If you wall mount the tv (which would look better), relocate the plug up a bit higher for the tv, and one lower for the components.
look at the console they have here. slim, not fussy looking, and spans the wall space. yours is brown, the carpet is brown, the sofa is brown and the tile is brown. you need to lighten things up a bit.
Here is a similar layout w/corner fireplace, to show you how they styled their furniture. (they have higher ceilings, so that does make a diff)
both of these pics showed how they did a built in on the tv wall
also remove the fireplace mantle and try a regular wood one. (it doesn't have to be as deep, just something to ease the transition from tile to the wall. Find a nice piece of art or arrangement for over it. something like this
but w/a wood mantle like this:
a new light or fan, and some blinds for the window, should complete the space. Hope these pics give you an idea and direction.
