Serene Seating Space
Forget the TV and the dinner table—a space in your home just for relaxing, recharging, and reading is the new must-have. Create a serene seating area in your home by choosing a cozy nook (think a corner of your living room or a dining room you just don’t use) and fill it with comfy chairs or couches, soft rugs and blankets, and minimal decor (no clutter here, please!). You’ll find yourself using the space for everything from entertaining to meditating, and you’ll always walk away feeling rejuvenated.
Get CozyYou can’t have a relaxing space without blankets to wrap up in and pillows to rest your head on. Neutrals work nicely here as well, but if you just can’t stand the thought of all beige everything go ahead and add a bright pop of color. If you plan on entertaining here, a pouf will add extra seating and soft, plush rug is always inviting. Silky or sheer curtains feel ethereal and tranquil where a plain Roman shade does not.
Get RelaxedThe right decor will bring your serene space to the next level. Create a zen hangout with subtle-smelling candles, living plants, and mood lighting. Add some artwork that inspires you and your space is set. Just make sure not to overdo it on decor—a clean, uncluttered area promotes relaxation best.
Get ComfyA big, cozy couch or deep arm chair is the first piece you need in your new serene space. Look for clean lines and light colors to maintain a feeling of zen throughout. We love the idea of going all white, but softer neutrals like beige and light blue can make the area feel less stark. Once your seating is in place, a table and bookshelf is all you really need.
