Get Organized in 2016
<Subtitle>
Get organized where it matters this year: your office, closet and kitchen
Closet OrganizationLet’s be real—everyone’s closet could probably use a good clean-out. Now is not the time to be sentimental. Toss or donate anything you wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing when you run into someone you haven’t seen in a long time. This includes anything that doesn’t fit, is stained, ripped, or faded. If you haven’t worn it in the last year, you’re not going to magically want it now. Then, organize everything you keep with extra shelving or rods, shoe racks, hooks and boxes (we like transparent ones so there’s no need to label).
Kitchen OrganizationFrom weeknight dinners to parties and celebrations, everything gets easier when your kitchen is organized. Start by throwing out old food and going through your kitchen appliances and gadgets. If you haven’t made popovers in the last year, your popover pan is just taking up space. Get rid of unused spices, gifted jars of jam you’ll never eat, and that bag of flour with just a tablespoon left. Then, organize dry food in clear canisters and wine bottles with a good rack (labels out). Pots and pans take up tons of space, so we love the idea of a hanging pot rack or under cabinet system that organizes them easily. When it comes to the kitchen just remember: everything should have its place.
Office OrganizationYou’ll never land your dream job with an office full of old papers and unorganized junk. First, toss old notebooks, mail and other papers that you have no use for. File everything else into categories. Line all your books up by subject on a tidy shelf and create room on your desk for everything you use while working. Our office must-have? A charging station that corrals all your electronics.
