"How To Grow Fresh Air". Author B.C. Wolverton, from 25 years of research, listed a number of plants that work well as air fresheners and scored them based on their effectiveness. We've chosen ten of those plants to share with you along with their score of effectiveness for cleaning the air. Studies suggest at least 7 to 10 plants per 900 square feet for best results. We believe all plants contribute to fresher air. If a plant scores lower, perhaps you just want a few more of them. We've arranged them by low to high light needs. On a scale of 0 to 10 for air quality effectiveness, note the common name first and the score second:
