Lovely Lavender
Ah, lavender. It was actually the name of a plant before it was ever used to describe a hue. Both the plant and the color have a lot in common, in that they both are soothing and relaxing. This makes a sprig of the herb or a wall drenched in the shade perfect for bedrooms as they both can bring on a nice deep sleep.
You may love lavender but be unsure of what colors to use with it. As a girl in the eighties, my favorite color to use with it was pink, but lately not so much. You can look to the garden for help - it looks beautiful with all shades of green, it helps to tone down bright yellows, it stands out next to shades of brown, and it's elegant paired with a bit of silver. I have been browsing house and collecting some inspiring images to share with you here.
SIDE NOTE: I scooped up this month's issue of Ebony magazine at the airport this week because there is a spectacular lavender-infused cover featuring Prince on it. That baby is getting framed and I shall hang it in my house very soon. I'd love to share it here but it would probably take an eternity to get the rights to the image, so head to a newstand and check it out!

Here we see a full mound of lavender, standing out in a palette of yellow, green, and silvery green.
