3. Rustic Radiance This powder room combines rustic and industrial elements via its brick accent wall. While the brick may look like an exposed wall of a loft or reclaimed warehouse, it’s in fact made of a brick veneer product that the designer over-grouted using a German smear technique. Design takeaway: If you opt for a floating vanity in a powder room, consider adding a basket underneath for storage needs.
2. Finding the right mix. To choose the color of the island, one of the homeowner’s of this kitchen spent many hours on Houzz, sending photos of green, blue and gray cabinets to designer Christine Sheldon until the two finally landed on soft blues. Once they narrowed the choices to three, Sheldon painted those colors on the cabinet surface and then had the colors tinted until she hit on just the right mix. The final paint color is a custom mix from Benjamin Moore. Find kitchen designers in your area
Interesting combo 9. High contrast. While white kitchens continue to resonate with home design fans, those with more contrast are gaining steam. This Pennsylvania kitchen caught a lot of eyes with a backsplash and stools that navigate between the charcoal gray island and the white cabinets.Tile backsplash: Tundra gray marble polished, MSI Tile
Pantry barn doors. Here’s a lovely use of the barn door trend: opening a pantry. Because the doors slide on a rail, the kitchen or pantry doesn’t need clearance area for a swinging door, allowing more space for other uses. The wide pantry doors can also be left open for easy access. These barn doors create a pretty design accent with their gray paint and black hardware. Roll-out pantry. When drawers roll out, as they do in this English pantry cabinet, you don’t have to worry about digging behind things to find what you need. The glass drawer fronts and sides also allow maximum visibility of items in the drawers while keeping everything in place. The sleek design works well for a contemporary kitchen.
10. Wow-Worthy WallpaperEven though it might be the biggest star of this living room, the wallpaper was the last thing the homeowner committed to. “This was a big white wall, and rather than a gallery wall mishmash of photos, which we considered, we wanted to go for something really bold and glam,” designer Noz Nozawa says. The paper, by Porter Teleo, is made just like a Rorschach test: Artist’s ink is poured onto Japanese paper, which is then folded in half to create a mirror image; each roll has one long blot pattern on it. No two rolls are exactly alike. The company custom-matched the ink color to the accent wall in Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy.

Cute function and store blankets and games. 5. Weave in secret storage. Hidden storage is one of the best tools for maintaining a clutter-free home. This ottoman brings color and coziness to the room, but it also has a hinged lid, making it perfect for stashing away games and blankets. Ottomans also can be used as a coffee table or as extra seating, so they’re the ultimate in flexible furniture. Plus, the need to get inside the ottoman regularly is a great incentive to keep the top clear.
