Culverts!!! Hahahaha
Wood siding. Many will tell you to stay away from wood siding. They'll say that you'll spend your weekends refinishing the exterior of your home rather than enjoying life. Not true. A well-installed and well-finished wood siding will last a lifetime or more with no more maintenance needs than any other material.
And a wood deck is much more inviting than one made of a composite material. Each board will weather at its own pace and take on that patina that says, "Come, sit here and enjoy the view."
nice sandbox, and parent can relax while watching kiddos!
Dual-seat hammocks are available. Face the hammocks in opposite directions to talk freely with the person sitting next to you without craning your neck.
Hammocks are simple in design and require only two things to work properly: strong supports 10 to 20 feet apart. To approximate the space you will need, measure the hammock and add 1 or 2 feet for the total length between posts.
attach the hammock to a vine-covered post. Clematis is a great choice, with a wide range of pinks, purples and whites to choose from and a graceful twining habit. Other vines might take over your hammock, but clematis will grow peacefully and stay in its place.
If we have a root cellar, I want the entrance to look like THIS!! :)
Screen doors can be double doors too, especially when they're part of the entire porch. Just be careful and use some extra reinforcing, like a cable rail, to keep these doors from sagging and warping.
Whether at the line of the porch wall or the house wall, a double screen door will certainly keep the interior light, bright, fresh and bug free.
this house is gorgeous! found on screen door article for painting to match the trim... but look at that wood siding and roofing too!!
There's a fan for every style. This one recalls barn lights and thus is an appropriate choice for a farmhouse.
The utility sink on the porch is a brilliant idea!!
A Lowcountry porch, complete with lovely railings, traditional shutters, windows with transoms, lovely lighting, plants and beautiful wood underfoot and overhead.
sturdy teak from a bridge in Indonesia into a beautiful outdoor table and benches
Different configurations of windows, trim and corrugated metal are part of the home's fun quirks.
Grace used a chain saw for texture and a concoction that Mindful Design has perfected over the years that brings out the wood's tannins for color. I love the mix of wood and metal...
Bet we could build one a helluva lot cheaper!! Phat Tommy Elevated Brown Planter Box - $197.99 » An elevated planter box is just what I need — no more bending down! The extra storage shelf below can hold your gardening gloves and tools.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! Round Tall Cedar Barrel - $184.99 » I use tall cedar barrels for staked tomato plants in the summer. They are large enough to hold most anything you want to grow.
How pretty is THIS?!!
Since a shed dormer's roof is pitched differently than the main roof, it's a great place to mix materials.
I LOVE THIS!!! Just need the box to plant them in! And while not technically an "outside" only idea--it fits with plants so...
In its traditional form, the moon gate is a round opening in a wall. The moon gate provides an opening in the barrier and a connection between two worlds. And this traveling between the two worlds becomes even more pronounced as you step up and over the threshold.
