Mittens cat, we purchased the hardware for the door online, sorry I don’t recall exactly where. The door we made ourselves, we already had a solid wood door, and we had an extra door from another project that was also solid. We wanted to make the original door wider, so we took part of the other door and joined it to the original door to get the width we wanted. Then we covered that in thin walnut plywood sheets from our local lumber yard (not one of the big box stores) and then we edged it with solid walnut so you don’t see any plywood edges. I coated the walnut in Waterlox since that’s what I’ve used on many other projects in our home (including our kitchen, since you can see this door from the kitchen) so it coordinates with all of that. But yes, you can get any style door you want really, everybody usually thinks “rustic” for barn doors, but the sky is the limit really. (And we all wish there was no limit on our pocketbooks, LOL!) Our neighbor’s sliding door was metal and frosted glass and very sleek looking. I’ve seen them done in a very traditional manner as well.
