Private courtyard New Orleans style
Very intimate corner, which is not focused on looking new. I like the worn round table with the older low key chairs, the aucubas which are strong growers, did not know they endured that zone because they look so tropical. Love the plant choices. Think the door panels, if they operate, conceal the irrigation and gardening supplies, and perhaps the breaker box for the electrical stuff. Obviously an irrigation system is surrounding the beds hidden in the planting medium. How does it drain the planters though? Is there a system to collect irrigation and rain runoff? I'll think on that one.
The treatment of the gates is very Chinese, with a sheltered roof for the top instead of timber. Perhaps for my Teahouse it would work, use a pair of French doors or the frames for them w/o the glass. And another setup for the garden gate in the privacy fence instead of a pergola above it. Reminds me of the Salem Essex Museum's reconstructed Chinese farmhouse. Lovely space.
Oh wow, a balcony with a lacy acer palmatum and aged table/chairs with subdued colors, love the terracotta urn gathering patina, the flat black tracery of the wrought iron railings. What a lovely view from this catbird seat.
