Talk about royal. This deep, powerful purple is an amazing complement for the rich gold-mustard of the sofa. The intensity of the two colors is perfectly matched and the texture of the sofa adds another layer, making the whole effect feel even richer.
Not every color combination is about rich intensity. This mix of pale blue and terracotta is a great example of a muted match that really works.
This jewel-toned chairs are full of color, but they're dominated by purple and green - a great contrast and set off beautifully by the pale, bright room.
I love the tone of the blue and green in this room. They're so similar - quiet colors, but deep.
Green and orange is probably my favorite of all color combinations - it's jarring for a second, but hits both the cool and hot spots. (This is actually my kitchen.)
Red and green can be tough to pull off during months other than December, but thinking of the combination in terms of vibrant outdoor shades - like this grass green paired with the red leaves - is great inspiration.
Deep gray is a fantastic foil for shimmery gold. One's vibrant, the other is quiet.
