Guest Picks: Getting Organized
I tend to have a hard time tossing magazines, but stacking them in odd places around the house doesn't help much when I'm searching for a recipe I've clipped. I really like these magazine (or book, folder, etc.) holders to keep them all upright and in one place.
Even though this shelf is considered a cubby, I think it would be perfect mounted above a desk for extra storage. I really like the open shelves above; they'd be perfect for a few small accessories or knickknacks.
These baskets would be great for storing extra bath or hand towels in the bathroom. The smaller of the two might also be the perfect place to store extra haircare products like curling irons, brushes, etc.
I love this Daily Organization System by Pottery Barn Kids. While it would be a great way to keep little ones on track for the school year ahead, it'd also be great for your kitchen or home office to keep track of things like grocery lists, bill due dates, invites and more.
I can always use extra storage boxes around the house, and stylish ones like these might make organizing a little more fun. I think they'd be perfect for anything from art supplies like paints or brushes, to bandages and other first-aid items in the bathroom. Really, you can't go wrong with boxes like these.
I've always just used a regular ol' plastic hamper, but I'd really like to switch to one that has two compartments. I think it'd be a lot easier come laundry day if I were able to separate my clothing in each of the compartments throughout the week, versus all at once.
I've been looking for a bench to put in my entryway, and I really like the idea of adding in something with extra storage to hold things like blankets, pillows or even seasonal decor.
I really like this hanging magazine rack as yet another way to help me keep my reading material organized. I'd like to put one off to the side in my kitchen to store some of the cooking magazines I use the most.
I like this kitchen cart by Ikea to help store some oversize pots and pans that are difficult to keep in cabinets.
This under-bed canvas storage bin is perfect for holding out-of-season shoes and clearing up some space in your closet. I love that it comes with cedar inserts as well to keep everything smelling fresh throughout the year.
While this pinboard might be entitled a "jewelry organizer," I would like to use it in my kitchen or office to pin up coupons, grocery lists, bill reminders, etc.
I'll take any motivation I can get when it comes to deep cleaning the house, and having an organized caddy that I can pick up from room to room just might do the trick.
I love these clear jars because they're so versatile. I think they'd be great for storing cotton balls, Q-tips or maybe hair ties in the bathroom. They'd be great as storage for snacks and dry foods in the kitchen too.
If you're anything like me, then you have the one drawer in your kitchen that is filled with old mailers, local restaurant menus, bills, etc. I think having a tray out like this one from The Container Store would be a great way to keep all of those things organized, and it would force me to go through things a lot quicker so that they don't pile up.
I like this three-drawer stand for extra storage in any room. I think it would make a great place for toys in a playroom, arts and crafts supplies in an office, or pajamas or workout clothing in the bedroom.
I really like this bamboo drawer organizer by Lipper. I think it would be great for flatware in the kitchen, makeup in the bathroom or tools in the garage. It's a clean and simple way to keep things from piling up in any storage space.
Because I spend a lot of time in my kitchen, I'd really like to organize all of the cooking and baking products I have on hand. These jars seem like a great way to display the spices I use most, while keeping my countertops and cabinets free of clutter.
This grocery bag holder might be the coolest little space saver I've seen in a long time. It might also be one of the most unnecessary things (a drawer for plastic bags works just fine), but I think it's perfect for those who like to take their organization to the extreme.
I'd like to put up a few of these shelves in my laundry room to help keep down the chaos in there. I think they'd be great for towels in the bathroom too.More: How to Clean Out the Pantry
This kitchen rack is most definitely a "want" item rather than a "need" item, but I think it's a really neat way to organize those pesky rolls in your drawer. Cooking in the kitchen might be easier (OK, maybe not easier, but more fun) if I could put aluminum foil and parchment paper on the top two racks.
