Your Kitchen: Pretty Pantries
Inspiration for Better Kitchen Storage, From Utilitarian to Luxurious
Every kitchen is different. Some have the luxury of dedicated pantry space. Some don't. But even for those who don't, there are many ways to carve pantry space out of cabinets and closets. And for those who are lucky enough to have a dedicated pantry, there are many ways to make it more attractive and efficient. Here is a collection of pretty pantries to get your creative juices flowing.
A pretty butler's pantry might just be a dream for most of us, but we can learn a lot by studying them. To help your pantry be its prettiest, carve out a space to keep rarely used, but attractive, serving pieces on display.
Creating narrow shelves on the inside of pantry doors is a smart way to store small items like spices while keeping them easily visible.
Slide-out pantry shelves are a great idea for space-challenged kitchens...or just for kitchens that want to use every inch of space in the most efficent way possible.
This pantry provides great storage ideas. Note the use of baskets to store foods like potatoes out in the open. Further, note the small shelf below the window with fresh herbs growing in a small pot, and the narrow shelves housing extra rolls of toilet paper. The addition of a refrigerator is smart for large families who need to keep extra perishables on hand.
This butler's pantry uses a combination of glassfront cabinetry to store pretty serving pieces and enclosed cabinetry to store just about everything else.
Glass containers with chalkboard vinyl labels keep food items neatly organized and are attractive as well.
This pantry illustrates the fact that unique finishes need not be avoided just because a space is utilitarian. I know that if I opened my pantry and saw a rustic stone wall behind the shelves, it would bring a smile to my face everytime.
