When my sister-in-law was born, my in-laws lived in a teeny-tiny apartment and her very first bedroom was, well, a closet. Not ideal, but the reality is that little babies don't actually need a whole lot of space.
As kids get older, they accumulate a lot of stuff, so they do need a little more space. They don't, however, need acres. With the right set-up and some careful editing (it's OK to give away old toys and clothes), small spaces can be perfect for small people. Like these.

This room's genius use of drapes totally works for me. As with the sleeping porch bed above, it shows that one space can be divided into several uses with creative curtains.
