Home Design Ideas for the Cowgirl at Heart
I'm originally from the desert. I never owned a horse or lived a ranch. Nevertheless, a little bit of the cowgirl spirit seeped into me somewhere along the way. I love the romantic appeal of riding off into the sunset. I love the independence of the cowgirl's adventurous approach to life.
I've been interested in the idea of incorporating that sort of spirit into home design. There are so many different options for this. Traditional Southwestern style and building with old barn beams would be one route. Contemporary design featuring leather furniture or vintage design using old wagon wheels as furniture are some other choices.
The cowgirl is a historic figure who is always true to herself. That's how design should be - inspired by the history of what others have done but ultimately chosen specifically because it suits your inner nature.

Traditional southwestern style like this always makes a cowgirl think about her favorite ranch. The simplicity here is appealing to a girl who likes to be out on the range. Personally, I'd probably add a hat and lasso on the wall as additional decoration but I can appreciate the starkness here.
This is one of my favorite examples of beautiful modern design that manages to wonderfully incorporate old-fashioned cowboy style. The furnishings are absolutely contemporary. The vintage window frame decorated with historic cowboy photos brings a sense of rugged romanticism to the room.
This kids' room could easily be for a budding cowgirl instead of a cowboy. the stuffed animals and pretty cowboy picture bring fun to the room. The colors here pop. All that is needed is a pretty red or blue cowgirl hat to hang on the wall!
You may not be able to keep a real horse at home but you can certainly afford to decorate with a great old rocking horse instead!
Instead of a rocking horse, perhaps you can find a great vintage carousel horse. This wooden one has more of a ranch style than the traditional colorful carousel horse and works perfectly in a cowgirl's home.
Here's what happens when a cowgirl grows up; she chooses a stunning leather cowboy-inspired couch to decorate her home. The only thing I'd love to see here that isn't would be vintage cowgirl photos in some of those frames!
These saddle-inspired stools are another great modern touch for the adult cowgirl. They hint at Western ranch ambience but they fit perfectly in today's home.
This relaxing bedroom is terrific for the cowgirl who just needs to chill out when she's at home. There isn't an overwhelming abundance of cowgirl style but that horse painting on the wall definitely makes you think about the freedom you experience when you ride.
These stunning horse sculptures would be an amazing addition to a cowgirl's garden. You may not want something quite that big, though. The smaller wagon wheels are another option to consider.
