What a View!
Today I am suffering from one of the seven deadly sins: ENVY! I dream of a waterfront or mountain home where I can wake up to a breathtaking view right from my bed. Where I can shuffle downstairs in my slippers and take my cup of chicory coffee out onto the balcony and enjoy the morning. Where I can gather with friends and family and cocktails and watch the sunset. I'm not picky, I'll take a lovely farm, the countryside, a great urban view or the desert too!
The people who live in the homes photographed below are some serious lucky ducks, and I admit it, I'm jealous! If you have found any other homes with great views around Houzz, please let me know in the comments section. I started pulling so many pictures for this ideabook that I had to start a separate ideabook that I will share with you tomorrow.

This Palo Alto estate has unbeatable views.
American Pastoral at its best.
This desert view in Hidden Valley is nothing short of sublime.
Speaking of sublime, this view is not for those who are scared of heights.
An all-the-way-through-the-house view. I love the twist on a barn vernacular controls the view from back to front here.
This is the view from the villa we rented in Tuscany. Heaven on earth!
I love that this view is uninterrupted by window panes. The long horizontal lines of the architecture mimc the horizon itself.
The view from this balcony feels like it's at the top of the treeline. Breathtaking!
More indoor/outdoor views from what I believe is the same house pictured above.
A perch in vineyard country.
This is a great example of how transitional spaces between indoors and out allow for maximum enjoyment of the view.
Sited in a field of wildflowers - what could be better?
Reflection
There's something so beautiful yet rugged about these Hamptons dunes.
Here's the perfect space to enjoy the view for three seasons...
All homes with views like these should have this many windows!
Ditto
Ditto.
No words necessary.
...or this...
Axial design controls the view here.
I don't think I could afford to even rent this joint for five minutes, but I'd like to try!
Infinity Pool + Infinity View
This reminds me a bit of the work of one of my favorite landscape architects, Thomas Church, author of "Gardens are for People."
I love that the more wild edge of this pool transitions from the built landscape to the view beyond it.
This could very well be the best spot for a covered porch EVER.
Nestled in the trees in winter; I am not sure I'd ever be able to get out of bed in this house!
