Drink It In: Creative Wine & Spirits Storage
I love to entertain, and I like a nice glass of wine or two in on quiet evenings, as well. Like a lot of my fellow party-givers and wine and cocktail-lovers, I have a little bit of a storage problem. I like to keep my liquor cabinet and wine racks stocked, and sometimes that means that I’ve got bottles overflowing onto every counter in the house.
A wine or liquor bottle can be as beautiful as a handcrafted vase. But stack too many of those objets together in one place and things just look sloppy.
A little bit of organization makes a collection of bottles that much more beautiful. That’s why I love these ideas for wine and spirits storage:

If you've got the space, a traditional wine cellar, with proper temperature and humidity control, is the way to go. I love how the individual bottles here are mixed up with some crates holding cases. Also, a tasting table in the center makes the room not just functional as a storage space, but a social one, too.
Adding a bit of wine storage to a kitchen island is a great idea - it's convenient (I'm always grabbing a bottle while I cook) and adds some interest to the island. In this case, the wine storage is kept well away from the oven, too, which keeps wine safely away from very high and fluctuating temperatures.
While these pull-out drawers don't currently hold wine, I think they'd be another cool way to store wine in an island. You could easily grab a bottle while cooking (or just hanging out). Plus, the open drawer adds visual appeal.
Lately, I've seen butler's trays pop up everywhere from West Elm to Thom Filicia's lake house. I love the idea of using one of these trays for either permanent or temporary wine and spirits storage. They make a great addition to a party - instant bar - but they're also useful as a permanent open-air liquor cabinet.
If you're serious about collecting AND drinking your wine, a built-in wine refrigerator is a great way to keep it both accessible and safe. I love this island - it gives the whole kitchen a party atmosphere.
This wine refrigerator (stocked with Veuve Cliquot, no less) is modern and attractive - and functional. The cafe-height table and chairs give the space a fun, bar-like feel, but with all the comforts of home.
Why hide your collection behind closed doors? I like this room's use of liquor bottles as art - they pop against the dark wood and deep red walls and give the room a festive atmosphere.
For a less in-your-face bar, this bar is functional, but tucked away in the corner. As a result, the room can function as a family space, or as a party venue.
