Mix things up with neutrals. Those who like to branch out and are confident in their own color picks can mix up their cool and warm colors. This beautiful dining room features a neutral wall color with a cool ceiling color and a warm white trim color. The effect is soothing because the colors are all very muted and soft.
"Bright White" ceiling -reflects or takes on the faintest hint of the other colors in the room, thus providing a nice cohesive feel to the room. Also having a lighter contrasting color on the ceiling makes a room feel larger.

These complex neutrals mix brown and gray, straddling between warm and cool. In cooler morning light they appear more gray / but take on a richer, warmer tone in warmer afternoon light. Add accents of any other color you like. Or variety of neutral hues for a layered look that’s visually interesting.
Subtle colors, as opposed to bold-saturated hues, can be trickiest, as the more subdued the paint, the harder to see in a paint chip - try SIMILAR to color you think you want, but a bit off -also take two swatches on either side of it.
