Bold Patterns: Harlequin and Argyle
Go Subtle or Big With Diamond Patterns on Wall, Window, Furniture or Floor
When I want to add a pattern to a room, I know I can count on diamonds. You can use them subtly in tile or have big fun with contrasting hues reminiscent of a harlequin or argyle pattern. A DIYer can create this look on a wall or piece of furniture with paint and painter's tape. Or you can use wallpaper for a similar effect.
The red-hot painted harlequin design below this chair rail shouts rock star country design.
This child's playroom gets a big splash of blue color through the window treatment. The diamond pattern looks like lattice, creating a sunny garden feel.
Argyle socks and sweaters have been replicated on the walls and I love it! The very large wall treatment uses soft colors, letting the intricate pattern speak for itself.
This wallpaper is bold not from its colors, but from the thick lines creating the diamond shape, giving a retro vibe. I can imagine wrapping the walls of a dining room in it and adding a big bold light fixture and accents like you see here.
This creative kitchen space takes advantage of a sloped ceiling that won't allow for upper cabinets. Who needs them when you can have two diamond shaped frosted glass pantries?
How do you add interest to a master bedroom? Through a large piece of furniture painted in a diamond pattern. The colors are soft, but the pattern is bold, still keeping the room airy but giving it interest.
It's hard to have anything take the spotlight away from calacatta marble, but the diamond-patterned cabinet doors on this island can hold their own in this kitchen.
Have you seen a lot of rectangular or square tiles lately? Sleek and bold diamond tiles make a beautiful alternative statement in this contemporary bathroom.
This wall treatment shimmers with delight. Beautiful fleur-de-lis details give the wall more interest in a royal way!
Large black-and-white shiny tiles in a harlequin pattern create a bold yet traditional flooring for a foyer or hallway.
This painted wood flooring is daring and fresh. It takes the cake in this eclectic space.
