Landscaping - Keeping Critters Away!
Earth Mama Landscape Design - photo Steve Masley Consulting and Design - advice on how much sun Steve Masley Consulting and Design The general rule for gardens is full sun, because most vegetables need 6-10 hours of sun a day to thrive. However, in hot climates like Dallas or desert areas, partial shade in the middle of the day gives you more flexibility in what to plant. If your garden gets full sun, you can use shade net to reduce the harshest effects of the hot sun, or adjust your planting time to "plant around" the hottest mid-summer months. You can also enrich the soil and provide a deep root zone (20-24"), so you can set plants closer together to prevent sun scald on fruits.
This is 5' high!! Another person ...... A couple I know has a fenced raised bed garden. The fence is only 4' tall but what keeps the deer out is they pick up all their dog poop around the inside fenced area and place it around the perimeter fence line. The deer smell the poop and know there are dogs inside the fence. They haven't lost one vegetable to deer.
