Meant to be, by the Sea: Coastal-Inspired Design Ideas
Next month, Kevin and I are heading to Tybee Island, Georgia for a very exciting adventure. We write a feature called "Guest My Nest" on our blog, and we're going to be staying at (and reviewing) not one, not two, but THREE fabulous seaside homes while we're there.
We'll also be meeting up with one of the masters of seaside-inspired design, Jane Coslick. I'm looking forward to photographing some of her fantastic renovations and to hearing about all the work that went into the places we see.
So, since I've got beachside bungalows on the brain today, I decided to assemble a collection of photos that showcase rooms that each have that certain beachy charm I have grown to love so much.
Each of the rooms pictured here have elements that would be very simple, and inexpensive, to replicate if you like the look.
Check out the captions below each photo for low-cost, high-impact decorating ideas that will give your room a little beachside flair in no time!

Designed by Jane Coslick, this kitchen is one of my all-time favorites! Adding the bright blue screen door to the pantry was a great way to bring in a bit of the beach.
An indoor/outdoor area rug will not only add a coastal feel, it will also hold up well under heavy foot traffic.
Grasscloth Wallpaper is a fairly inexpensive way to instantly add texture, reminiscent of sea oats. You can find faux grasscloth at most home improvement stores for even less than the real stuff.
Bedding covered in images that depict sea life is a great way to inject some of the beach onto your bed.
Picture frames made from recycled boat wood will definitely amp up the coastal charm.
Flea market furniture, painted white or pale blue, always looks so crisp and coastal.
Wood counter tops, and exposed dishes scream beachside cottage.
Baskets and crates are great beachy-looking storage solutions.
Seashells, tucked inside candleholders will give your candles a beachy little boost.
