Embrace the Fringe Element
Add inexpensive, easy flair to your sofa or couch pillows with fringe, tassels and pom-poms
Pillows are the jewelry of the bed or couch. They bring in accent colors, add pizazz and, quite often, become focal points. A little flirty trim is one of our favorite ways to dress up a pillow to make sure it doesn't fade into the background. Fat pompoms, dramatic tassels and subdued fringe all have their place in the pillow world. Take a look at these pillows for a little fringe-spiration!

Kids' rooms can be the best place to experiment. Try dressing a few pillows for your child's bed. Here, sassy pom-poms in bright colors add a playful touch.
Fabric always comes first, but a dash of coordinating fringe adds so much style. A plain bolster in this room might have felt boring, but a row of fringe brings it to life.
One of the best things about fringe is that it's an inexpensive way to customize store-bought pillows. If you aren't having your pillows custom made, simply invest in a good hot glue gun. Shoot a thin line of glue around your pillow and stick the edge of the fringe to it — easy!
If your home is designed in a neutral or white-on-white style, trim is a great way to add dimension while staying true to your palette.
Is your bed too sophisticated and grown up? A touch of fringe can add that perfect pop of whimsy.
Pillow fringe also can help bring all of the colors in a room together. Try pulling out a less noticeable color in a pillow's upholstery by repeating it in the fringe — or find a piece that incorporates all the colors in the room and put it on a solid pillow.

Don't forget your outdoor pillows either. Outdoor fringe is becoming easier to find, and some companies, such as Ballard Designs, carry reasonable outdoor pillows with fringe already attached.
In a spot with a lot of pillows, remember not to get too overzealous with the fringe. One or two well-chosen pillows is enough!
