Brought Up in a Barn
I was waxing nostalgic about Laura Half Pint Ingalls the other day and it inspired me to seek out pictures of barns. The structure of the barn in the landscape instantly conjures a feeling of a simpler time. As agriculture becomes such a big business and the rings of suburbs stretch further and further into the country, these American landmarks are becoming endangered.
One wonderful way many barns are saved is when they are re-purposed and converted into homes. They can provide wonderful open interior spaces. Here are some examples of converted barns and barn-inspired buildings.

This barn in Rockport Maine is part of the farm with the Belted Galloways. When I took this shot it was housing an art show to benefit the farm's preservation.
