English Gardens
Often homeowners yearn for an English garden. Since the 18th century when Lancelot "Capability" Brown designed the first truly English garden, this classic garden style has graced many a mansion and home. Typical elements of the English garden style include lawns, naturally planted bulbs and trees, graceful perennial borders, and tasteful use of decorative elements such as statues, obelisks, and benches.
Box or boxwood is a wonderful landscape plant. As part of an English garden, it can be trimmed into distinctive forms or left natural. It is also deer-resistant, making it an excellent choice for those areas where deer browsing is a problem.
