Guest Picks: 20 Laundry Room Essentials
Doing laundry isn’t one of my favorite things, and I’m not alone. But even though having a loaded laundry basket is one of my least favorite feelings, I live for that fleeting moment when all of the laundry in the house is done, the hamper is empty and the closets are filled with fresh, clean clothes neatly folded and put away. Ahh, it’s like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day!
One thing that makes doing laundry a little more bearable is having a stylish, functional and organized laundry room to work in. Even if you don’t have a designated room just for laundry, a well-organized space along with a few fun touches can spice up this otherwise boring and mundane task. Here are some of my favorite laundry room essentials. — Ashley from 7th House on the Left

Skyler Metal Laundry Basket - $59.99
Even though this is a laundry basket, it's also the perfect size for stashing extra toilet paper, bottles of club soda and back-up laundry detergent in a laundry room closet.
Laundry Cart Rectangular Collection, Natural - $129
These laundry carts are great for transporting your laundry around the house without breaking your back, all while bringing a touch of unexpected vintage style to your laundry room.
Bamboo Laundry Single Hamper, Hamam Stripe - $49
Who says hampers have to be boring? This wide-stripe design is fun, and the hamper itself is large enough to hold a hefty amount of dirty clothes.
Universal Expert Storage Caddy - $45
A caddy filled with the essential cleaning supplies makes quick room-to-room cleaning sessions so much easier. I love the simple industrial design of this one.
Nellie's All-Natural Laundry Nuggets, 36-Count - $9.99
These all-natural laundry "nuggets" are one of my all-time favorites. They're non-toxic, biodegradable and hypoallergenic. My husband and I like using them when washing our dog's bedding, as he has major allergies.
Common Good Laundry Detergent, Sage Leaf - $25.95
I like to switch out laundry detergents from time to time to add a little bit of variety to everyday chores. This sage leaf version smells amazing, yet not too overpowering, and it gets the job done.
Gray Wire Bin - $16.95
Wire bins are a stylish and oh-so-functional way of sorting things like cleaning rags and extra rolls of paper towels.
Build Your Own: Gabrielle Organization Components - $18
Wall storage is key in any laundry room. And who says it doesn't have to look good while keeping your things in order? This collection has so much versatility.
Casabella® Grey Large Utility Gripper - $19.95
This utility gripper is great for keeping brooms, dusters and mops organized and up off the floor.
Blacksmith Clothes Rack
If you have space for a garment rack in your laundry area, it's a great way to make a habit of immediately hanging your clothes as soon as they're washed/dried.
Wooden Storm Peg Clothespins, Set of 24 - $4.99
I keep a bowl of these next to the dryer to hang small pieces of clothing to dry. They come in super handy.
Guide to Procedures: The Laundry Room by Lettered & Lined - $18
No more label-reading mixups with this cute print. It even has a nice little reminder at the bottom to check your pockets.
Wool Dryer Balls, Set of 3 - $16.99
I was so skeptical of these things for the longest time, but they work! They reduce dry time up to 25 percent while eliminating wrinkles and static cling. They also make towels super fluffy and plush. I keep them in a container next to the dryer so that I remember to use them.
Large Wood Drying Rack - $79.95
Every time I pull this out to air dry clothes, I think of my grandma's laundry room. These things have been around for a long time, but they still do the trick. You can't beat the classics.
PB Ironing Board Covers - $29
In the whole laundry/cleaning rainbow, I’d have to say that ironing is my least-favorite activity. Though if I had an ironing board cover like this, I’d hate it less. I especially love the navy polka dot one.
Bamboo Ironing Board - $79.95
If you don't do a ton of ironing (or your ironing board doesn't get a lot of wear and tear) and you're looking for something to spice up the ordinary, this is the ironing board for you.
Ironing Board Hanger - $59
One thing I've noticed while organizing my own laundry area is that it's hard to find stylish ironing board storage. Most of the options are coated metal hooks that hang over the door. But this one is made of iron and even has a little shelf for the iron — a double win.
All-Purpose Bottle With Lid - $4.95
Simply put, these bottles are amazing. I ordered four a few weeks ago, and they are perfect for storing homemade cleaning supplies. I seriously can’t get enough of them.
Common Good Linen Water Spray - $19.95
Oh, how I love spraying linen water on fresh sheets!
Lavender Mist Linen Spray - $5.99
This lavender scent is so refreshing and lovely to use on clean sheets in the evening before going to bed. It’s also safe to use around kids and pets.
