Guest Picks: Guest Bathroom Wallpapers
Martyn Lawrence released this “Topkapi” paper in blue as an homage to the tiles that lined the royal suites in Istanbul’s Topkapi Palace. It would look great in an entire bathroom, or just on the wall where the mirror and vanity are placed.
A fun, vibrant pattern in lime green, this paper by Phillip Jeffries will transform the bathroom in no time.
Scalamandre is one of my favorite shops for all things interiors. This “Baldwin Bamboo” wallpaper is in their classic collection and is hand printed in a stunning cream and blue on yellow. This is just the paper to give any guest bathroom a complete makeover.
“Dufy Leaf” by Raoul Dufy dates back to the 1920s and is a wonderfully exaggerated yet neutral print that will be easy to dress up or down with accessories. Because the color is rather basic, I think you could get away with this busier pattern in an entire room.
“Tracery” by York is one of those prints that will continually make a space feel young and fresh for years.
I couldn’t leave F. Schumacher’s classic “Chiang Mai Dragon” out of this roundup. This is a wallpaper that you have to be really confident about if you’re going to add it to a larger room. But in a space like a guest bath, you can definitely pull it off with ease.
I’ve had a sample of Farrow & Ball’s “Peony” pattern in my desk for years, as I’ve always thought it would make for a beautiful guest bathroom paper. It comes in an array of colors too, including gray and black.
I love the deep coral in this lively “Hampton Court” paper by York. It’s washable as well, making it a good choice for a bathroom.
A contemporary design with a classic feel, “Angelina” by York will give the bathroom an upbeat vibe.
Farrow & Ball’s “Lotus” wallpaper will breathe tons of life and energy into a small bathroom. It’s busy, so be prepared to keep everything else minimal within the space.
Stripes are the most minimal design of this bunch, but they’re always nice in a bathroom, especially when done vertically. I like them in black for a dramatic look, but feel free to go as light as you wish — you can never go wrong with stripes.
You may have seen this Moroccan pattern in a few design magazines over the years, as it has become quite popular for entryways, hallways and even kitchens. I’m really liking it in this aqua blue. I think it would add that touch of serenity that is often needed in bathroom spaces.
Take the color up a notch with this “Paeonia” wallpaper in teal. If you want more vibrancy, it comes in a golden hue as well.
This “Best in Show” wallpaper has been a longtime favorite of mine, mainly because of its versatility. While it looks great in a guest bath, it also shows nicely in kids’ rooms, laundry rooms and even offices.
“Union Square” in black is one of those prints that you never tire of. It gives the space a structured and polished feel, while at the same time the shapes add youthfulness to the area.
“Seabury” by York is a very handsome paper with a playful feel. It comes in a few different colors, but I’m drawn to this navy and cream colorway for a bathroom space.
There is something so sweet and fanciful about this bird-covered wallpaper from Anthropologie. It would make for a perfect covering in a child’s bathroom or room.
This damask print in a deep kelly green is perfect for someone looking for a wallpaper that is whimsical and theatrical.
It doesn’t look like much on a computer screen, but this “Light Foot” mural by Waverly is really a stunning sight in person. It might be too busy for an entire room, but it will make a big impact in a smaller bathroom. Pair with neutral or basic accessories and somewhat subdued finishes like pewter or antique bronze.Next: 12 Design Tips to Make a Small Bathroom Better
I’ll start off with my dream wallpaper. Scalamandre’s iconic “Zebras” print is on the busier side once up, but it’s hard to top the classic look it brings to a bathroom space. It comes in many colors, but I like this deep orange the best.
