A muntin is the strip of wood or metal that is placed on a window or in between the panes of glass, forming a grid or grille. Doors, windows, furniture and cabinets use muntins. Originally, single-pane glass had true muntins that divided the panes of glass into lites. Now, removable grilles can be used on windows with double panes that save on energy and heating costs.
