Half-Timber
If you are familiar with Tudor style, you can picture exposed beams and plaster filling the gaps. A medieval building technique, half-timbering was impractical after the 1800s, because the brick, stone or plaster between the squared oak could not keep out the cold. Though half-timbering is still used as a decorative style, it is no longer structural.
