Sofa Skirts
I'll be entering the market for a new sofa within the next year or two. My Broyhill is a traditional skirted roll-arm number that's at least 15 years old. I bought it 2nd hand and it's still in great condition, but I'm ready for something a little different.
There are so many things to consider with a sofa. But for now I'm focusing on skirts. I'm not certain whether I should skirt my sofa or let her show a little leg. So, I'm building a visual library for the modest, skirted lady.

The waterfall skirt looks to be the most streamlined looking of the skirt styles. I like how this one by Crate and Barrel has the slim track arms. Kind of underscores the tailored skirt.
The tall kick pleat has a bit of banding towards the seat from which the skirt begins to fall. This one by Drexel Heritage looks very dignified with its contrast piping and high back.
The standard kick pleat: this Baker sofa is exactly what I envision when I think of a traditional skirted sofa. It differs from the tall kick pleat skirt because the skirt begins a little farther down. Feminine but not in a frilly way.
Here's a fancy fusion! It's a combo waterfall and corner shirred skirt. This one's by Sherwood. I can't help but wonder how this would look on a track arm tuxedo style. . .
This is a shapely closed box pleat. Something about it just looks like dancing to me! I found this one at Violet and George in the London.

Here's a classic closed box pleat. It just looks so happy!

Of all the skirted models the waterfall is by far the easiest on the eye. It's very fluid. Also along with the track arm, it can be equally comfortable in traditional or transitional settings. It's what I refer to as having "good bones". :)
