Creating a Homemade Taproom
When recently visiting The Broadmoor Hotel for a girl's weekend with my mother, and spending pleasant evenings before dinner in the small and classy bar, I thought how pleasant it would be to have a modest version of the room. A bar service. A collection of small round tables. Couches for lounging in the corner and reading, visiting, or cheering on the current sports game.
These photos prove my hopes, that such a space can be created in a more private domestic setting with the class and cool factor of any professional tavern. The great design of each example here shows that such a room not only provides a wonderful place to land, but a work of art

The bar need not stand out when not in use--this corner provides great storage for glasses and also the alcohol itself, behind closed cabinets. The counter space allows for setting out service at will. This can be a great idea for dwellings that don't have a room to devote to a bar--something like this could be carved out of a corner or even an unused closet.
The class and structure of this room could be created on any scale--large or small. The bar area offers a grounding center to the room, and the variety of seating gives a lounge feel with the opportunity to sit and enjoy drinks with pleasant versatility.
