Guest Picks: Blue and White All Around the Home
This crisp color combination can go classic, modern, coastal — it just depends how you use it

The Estate of Things (aka TEOT) is the bi-coastal design duo of Sarah Farrell and Betsy Moyer. Offering two distinct vantage points and a shared passion for the design world, the dynamic of these two always renders a beautiful result. TEOT always focuses on the architectural integrity of a home and the family dynamics of its inhabitants. We start with a traditional base and layer our signature glaze, full of influences from around the globe, across the zeitgeist of the modern shelter scene, and always with a mix of high/low, new/vintage, and traditional/eclectic. http://theestateofthings.com

Have you noticed? Lately, blue and white is king. This color pairing can veer classic, nautical or modern. Blue and white ceramics, for instance, are thrown in with all kinds of styles. We can be purists and go strictly blue and white, but I like it best when the combination commands a room but is interspersed with other natural materials. This list will help you get your blue and white on. — Sarah from The Estate of Things
What a mix! Grant Gibson's dining room with modern chandelier, kelly green chairs and fiddle leaf fig, topped off with a collection of blue and white ginger jars, was pretty fabulous. The blue and white bring that classic, traditional element to the space.
A nod to a zebra print, this zigzag accent pillow in royal blue will play well with large-scale floral patterns.
Create a wall display or set the table with this set of blue and white dinnerware.
Let's add a glossy, white lacquer coffee table with classic lines to our blue and white space.
I love marine blue. This rug is perfect for mixing it up in a traditional space or in a cottage.
This lamp is one of my favorite blue and white accessories. It uses a beautiful denim hue.
I can't get enough of abstract landscapes, and I love large-scale images of the sea. You could get lost in this one.
These lightweight Otomi blankets, made in Hidalgo, Mexico, are so striking in person. They are great mixed with an antique bed and plenty of other white linens.
I'm drawn to this table every time I see it used in an interior — which is pretty often. Use this when you need some movement and texture.
Commonly seen in black and white, this Madeline Weinrib rug lends a modern air to our blue and white room.
The list wouldn't be complete without a cluster of blue and white ceramic vases and ginger jars. This is a good starter set, and I love the watercolor images.
We've got to bring some blue and white into the bath, and I love the look and weight of these Turkish towels.
This is the perfect table to stack your favorite magazines and bedtime reading. A friend told me these tables are great for tight spaces too.
I like the subtle ikat pattern on this silk accent pillow.
I have loved these ever since seeing Katie Lee Joel's kitchen designed by Nate Berkus. They couldn't be more perfect for your breakfast area.
Can you say luscious? This navy velvet sofa is so rich and elegant, but it will work in a modern or traditional interior.
Ceramic garden stools are a no-brainer when layered under a console or used as an accent table.
This classic embroidered sheet set has just a touch of navy.
