Because Part 1 was so popular, I decided to tack on another ideabook about creating an artful terrarium. Here you’ll find more stunning vessels for display, as well as ideas for what to place inside your terrarium. Start small, and as you gain confidence in caring for your plants, expand your terrarium prowess throughout your living spaces. You will be delighted with your creations and enjoy them every day! — Stephanie from Stephmodo
This is just one example of a homemade terrarium I gifted a friend last year.
Finding the perfect vessel for a terrarium is half the project. This fantastic bottle with an orb top is extra special.
These faceted terrariums are smaller, but the effect is no less stunning. Set one atop a shelf next to a stack of books or group three together on a coffee table.
This is a simple, reasonably priced terrarium vessel. Just make sure you don’t have little hands at home, as this piece is not as kid friendly as others.
A beautiful statement, this glass vessel sits atop a solid, perfectly brushed metal stand. I see this particular piece settling in nicely in a more traditional space.
Changing up the glass color is one fun way to diversify your terrariums at home. Keep your wall color in mind when choosing whether clear or colored glass is right for your space.
One of my all-time-favorite terrarium vessels, this special piece from Roost can be tough to find and is certainly more of an investment piece. However, you will never tire of it or its gorgeous wooden orb on top.
The brushed-metal tops are gorgeous and modern, and these jars make for fantastic terrarium vessels. They’re definite favorites of mine.
This is another excellent starter terrarium that would fit nicely into traditional and modern farmhouse-style homes.
Pretty, green, effervescent sea glass adds a certain luster if used in layers with soil or sand.
I prefer to use white reptile sand from Petco for my desert terrarium projects. But this more crystallized version is very pretty (and sparkly!) too.
If you live near a beach, go pick up your own small pieces of driftwood for your terrarium project. If you don’t, you can purchase a set like this online! Who knew?
For modern, minimalist terrariums, a nice object can be pretty resting atop the soil or sand.
Here’s a miniature white porcelain house to tuck inside your terrarium for a little added whimsy.
A sweet miniature porcelain toadstool would be a delightful addition to any terrarium. Simply cut off the string and tuck it into the soil or sand.
Make caring for your terrarium easy with this beautiful metal mister.
Here is a simple terrarium incorporating a small air plant, some seashells and moss. A project like this is very easy to create and can be hung as well.
A very special mix of moss, lichen, air plants, driftwood and small ferns went into this true masterpiece from Seattle’s one-stop terrarium shop, Midnight Blossom.
