Same Song Second Verse: Symmetry That Works
In a world of accumulation and clutter (I myself admittedly adore clutter), symmetry in a room is like the much-needed breath a fast talker takes at the end of their sentence. Calming and much needed. But symmetry need not mean "exactly the same on both sides and thus: unimaginative." No. Here are examples of deliberation and order that is far from boring.
This kitchen is so pleasantly grounded with the color contrast (check out the whimsical aesthetic genius of the chalk board wall--so convenient in a kitchen aka the command center). The convenient open shelving equals itself out visually, but each side retains its individuality with the organized (in the best sense of the word:) clutter.
Bookshelves are of course very easy for creating a clean balance in a room. Here the unusual chandelier over the centered coffee table give the room a reference point, offset with elegance by the seating arrangement. It takes a well-made room like this to retain any visual attention with that beckoning beautiful window view.
Even smaller details like this cushioned seating at the bed's foot can create visual division and order.
