Guest Picks: Winter Reading List
This looks like a nice collection of everything you ever wanted to know about winter, from holidays to traditions to favorite stories. The cover art really speaks to me, as I’d love to join a group of woodland animals around a lantern and read a story with them.
The Let’s-Read-and-Find-Out science series is one of my very favorites. The information is presented in such an enjoyable format, and I always end up learning right along with my kids. Whenever I find these books at a thrift store, I pick them up to add to my collection.

This is one to add to your bookshelves at home. I am not generally a fan of walking in the snow at night, but this book makes me want to take a moonlit stroll with my kids.
This is a classic, but it’s always a winner every time my kids and I read it. Keats’ illustrations are some of my favorites.
The illustrations are calling out to me on this one. It looks like the perfect icy read for a winter’s day.
What do animals do during the winter? Where do they go? This is a fun way to explore those questions. My kids have this one and enjoy it regularly.
The My First Little House series is another of my kids’ favorites. This one is a great story about making maple syrup.

This looks like a great book for younger children and toddlers. I like the bright colors and modern graphic style. I could see my kids and I reading this one over and over again.

We don’t get a lot of snow around here, but we like to cross our fingers and hope for it. Books are my kids’ biggest window into the world of snow, so I help them check out a lot from the library that give us all insight into the science of snowflakes. This is one of those books that lets you investigate snow while staying warm inside on your couch.
