Feelin' Groovy
My favorite design book is Jonathan Adler's "My Prescription for Anti-Depressive Living." I've read it many times and not only is it extremely well-written (unfortunately, a rarity in design books), it's HILARIOUS! With this ideabook, I was inspired by the groovy, modernized Sixties and Seventies vibe he often adds to rooms, and went in search of those sort of rooms here on Houzz.
The rooms below just give you that relaxed, chill, downright groovy vibe. It's hard to put a finger on how exactly the do it - it's just a feeling the rooms provide.
P.S. A bit off topic, but in regard to design books, another delightful read is "Billy Baldwin Remembers."

I'd love to grab a throw pillow and sprawl on this floor. The paneling and the shag are a throwback, but the clean lines and accessories make it modern.
White keeps things neutral while the curvy lamp and chair are a throwback.
Ah Nina. She always keeps thing interesting and fun with wild prints and unexpected collages!
Green, browns and tans can always form a groovy palette.
A shock of orange and turquoise (one of my favorite color combos) adds just the right dash of energy to this serene room.
A lime green table and wild floral chairs must keep these owners from becoming Unhappy Hipsters (have you checked out that tumblr blog yet? It's HILARIOUS!).
These Pucci-esque prints and bold colors are a trip!
