Craving Cozy
The weather outside is frightful... Okay, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but these blustery, fall days do have me searching for ways to make my home even more cozy for the upcoming winter season. Are you looking for some ideas to turn up the cozy factor in your home? Let's see how the professionals do it....
Books, check. Velvet pillow and a warm blanket, check. Beautiful rug and wing-back chairs covered in rich, brown leather...yep, it's all here. This library/dining room runneth over with coziness. I could hibernate all winter right here.
This room exudes coziness. Note once again the fabrics and accessories: velvet, plaid, leather, books and a warm throw. The paneled walls just dial the coziness factor up another notch.
Paisley fabrics and animal prints have a definite way of making a room feel warm and inviting. The warm, pumpkin-colored walls say fall in a big way. Could you see yourself spending your fall and winter evenings reading in this beautiful space?
This room immediately came to mind when I thought of creating spaces high on the cozy scale. The leather sofa, the beautiful rug and the rock fireplace—they all pull you in. The arrangement of the furniture encourages you to stay a while, sipping your hot cider by the fire and sharing your day.
If hot cider is just not your thing, how about some nice hot tea in a beautiful paneled den? One lump or two?
Cozy doesn't always have to mean small. This room is quite large, yet it feels warm and inviting due to the rich fabrics, a gorgeous rug and wonderful lighting. Lighting is very important for creating cozy interiors.
Dining rooms can feel cozy, too, especially if they are enveloped in red. Red says cozy like no other color. Furniture in rich, brown tones looks luscious in red dining rooms.
Even though this room has a contemporary desk and light-colored upholstered furniture, the red paneled walls, red trim and touches of red velvet give the room a cozy feel.
Red and green always say cozy. Tapestry pillows and touches of whimsy like the "Good Boy" and "Bad Boy" pillows add to the room's charm.
Any ideabook about cozy would be sadly remiss if it didn't include this wonderful library nook. I especially love the red velvet cushion...now where's that curtain?
What's your idea of cozy? Do you have a favorite spot where you steal away to on a cold winter night?
