Guest Picks: Fox and Forest Friendliness for a Child's Room
Woodsy goes wonderful with branch hooks, faux-fur beanbags, fox accessories and more
Woodland creatures are trending in children's spaces these days. I thought it would be fun to create a child's bedroom (which could also be a nursery) using the colors of a fox: rich oranges and olive greens with a subdued gray as the neutral, helping to pull the space together. You can go as far into the theme as you want with furniture and bedding or keep it simple by just bringing in fox-inspired artwork or a whimsical pillow. These creatures make for a great way to let your imagination go crazy as you dream up the details of your design. — Courtney from A Little Glass Box
Owen Fox
This little guy inspired the design of this whole room. I am in love with the combination of orange and olive green.
Belle Upholstered Platform Bed, Distressed Linen
A sweet little piece that looks like something from a storybook, this bed is neutral enough to grow with your child and beautiful enough to be a showstopper at any age.
Nyponros Duvet Cover and Pillowcases
I adore the simplicity and versatility of this gray-striped bedding. It is a nice neutral to pair with the stronger colors of orange and olive green.
Dot Sheet Set, Gold
These fun gold polka dot sheets would be an unexpected statement mixed with the gray-striped bedding.
Chunky Tassel Throw, Green Tea
This cozy throw would add an extra punch of green to the space. It's also perfect for disguising stains.
Menagerie Pillow, Gray
This whimsical bunny pillow — which happens to be my favorite piece in this collection — is a great way to tie the gray and orange together.
Tassel Green Rug
This green rug not only grounds the space, but is child friendly as well. It also adds a nice layer of texture.
Curved Branch Curtain Rod
What a unique way to bring in another natural element. This curtain rod makes me smile. Who says your curtain hardware has to be boring? Definitely not in a little one's space!
Forest Critter Knob, Fox
I am loving this little fox knob. It would jazz up any old or new piece of furniture and make it feel custom.
Modern Chair, Orange
This reading chair adds function and style. It's also an easy way to add a bright spot of orange.
Farmstead Stool
This wooden piece can be used as both table and stool. I like bringing in natural elements, and even better, this is sanded smooth enough to be child friendly.
Luxe Faux Fur Bean Bag
The faux fur on these beanbags helps bring the forest friends theme to life. These would make for the ultimate fun and cozy lounging place.
Tree Mural by Mr. Perswall
This birch tree mural is a beautiful way to create an accent wall without having to use a lot of wallpaper. It's a great backdrop for other artwork as well.
Woodland Fox Print by Little Light Prints
This fox print makes me so incredibly happy! It fits the theme, has the right colors and is almost too cute for words.
Jacquard Leaf Curtain
This simple pattern would be great for a future design as well as our theme here. It's simple and modern.
Branch Hooks, Bronze
Perfect for robes and backpacks, these hooks have a branch shape that will make the kiddos actually want to use them.
Nest Arrow Chambray Pillow
There are no hunters allowed in this room. But if there were, they would be armed with bows and arrows. I am sure of it.
Branch Table Lamp, Blackened Metal
A branch lamp seems perfect for this room. I can imagine story time in that cozy orange chair, next to this lamp, making it a bit more special.
Oh Deer Canvas Wall Art
Oh, deer, I am in love with this artwork! The white background lets the colors of the deer stand out, and it would bring additional texture to the space.
Put a Lid on It Floor Bin
I adore the color of this storage bin. It's so sturdy and substantial, and it's perfect for holding toys. The lid can even double as a shield during forest battles.
