I don't expect much from Nate's bi-polar personality (my sister has bi-polar and is on meds). Bi-polar get into impossible fantasies and lure people into their fantasies (very much like Narcissists).
It's a fantasy to have 100% success in rooting with ALL varieties. It's a fantasy to "think" that it's a rooting during the 1st-two months of green leaves, when the stem will get moldy and rot with lack of sun & cold temp in Nate's zone 7a during Dec. & Jan.
It's a fantasy to have 100% success with rooting in one's 1st attempt.
I'm in Fragrant Gardens Facebook group with the leader Khalid (HQ Giluni) who used to post with me in Organic Rose back in 2014. These old Pakistan rosarians (with decades of experience) have zero success rooting Jubilee Celebration, but they can root The Prince and Falstaff easily with their warm zone 9b in open air.
In my years of experience of rooting indoor through my zone 5 winter: Certain thorny varieties like Gertrude Jekyll, Radio Times, Mary Magdalene, Tradescant, the Squire CANNOT be root in enclosed humidity, but best in open air, but NOT daily rain (a drier climate is best).
Nate uses a peaty-medium, which is prone to rot and mold in indoor rooting since it holds too much water. A best rooting medium for INDOOR is what Roses Unlimited uses: pine fines (prevents mold & overwatering), perlite & vermiculite, VERY FLUFFY and with misting.
Nate also put a plastic bottle (cap off) with ALL his cuttings. That's the best way to invite rot & mold in less sun winter.
His cuttings may look great in the first 2 months or taking order, but 90% of cuttings rot in indoor-rooting when it gets cold & less sun in Dec. & Jan.
That explains why Freedom Gardens in cold zone Ohio refunded customers money when certain Austin varieties fail to root. These customers waited for the ENTIRE year and were disappointed that certain varieties are much harder or impossible to root.
Evelyn is the only variety that can be rooted both in summer and winter, other Austin varieties and hybrid tea like Augusta Luis are easier to root in the summer than cold & less sun winter like zone 7a, PA where Nate is.
High Country Roses is in zone 6, CO, but it gets A LOT OF sun compared to my Chicago zone 5, and even LESS sun in Nate's PA (sun is vital to prevent mold & rot):

Bi-polar like Nate and Narcissists give back zero, but they pull people into lies & fantasies. It's like baiting people high like a fish, then throwing them down in a pond for them to sink in despair and disappointment.
