The Country Kitchen 12 Ways: Eclectic/Modern/Classic
I don't know about you, but when I think of the "country kitchen" back in the day, I think of hand painted tiles, pine cabinetry, the color yellow, and ok, from the past, ducks and geese motifs!
Country kitchens can have a depth of design which can be very exciting. A country kitchen can be "balanced" more toward country but with a bit of modern design. The kitchen can also be more modern in feeling but with "country" decorative detailing.
The important piece to be aware of is just how "country" do you want your country kitchen to be?? You can have it however you wish...you just need to know that you have options...a whole lot of options!
Choose your cabinetry first - that is the most expensive element in the kitchen so it makes sense to pay attention to it FIRST. Fall in love with your cabinetry, wood species, door style and use these pieces as the first step in your design journey. With cabinetry as your lead, as you will hear me say frequently, visualize the entire look now, at the start, and be aware that every decision thereafter will tip the balance in one direction or another.
Analyze kitchen images that speak to you and figure out precisely what it is that you are drawn to. I'm a big believer in "you know it when you see it." This means, listen to your inner voice very carefully as you make your product and design selections. The journey may take your country kitchen to places you did not expect, and that's half the fun!

It's a mix...lace, mission, country, stainless. At the time, we had extensive discussions on purity vs. interpretation. It's all good!

Country charm as you define it: soft, feminine fabric/colors and colorful touches with the warmth of wood, yet somehow, to me, a fresh update.
So many interesting pieces here: highly personal (chalkboard), bold black/contrast, mix of charm (beadboard doors) and modern elements
Classic American country! We have beams, stone, lots of wood and traditional, yet, informal, design.
