Sangria Hues: Punch Colors for the New Year
Cheers to Mixing Reds, Melon-Orange, Pinks and Citrus Colors
Some celebrate the New Year with a glass of Sangria...but have you also considered that this festive drink also offers color inspiration? With its mix of red, orange, lemon, lime, grape, melon and berry, Sangria is an example of how multiple hues can coexist in a fun, fruity and festive way.
Red is the dominant color in Sangria, and because red is such a strong hue, people are often afraid of adding other colors to it. But the truth is, red loves company! In this space, melon-orange and berry pink pillows actually temper the red wall color.
Soft yellows are also a nice way to tone down an intense red surface.
Red and orange are both vibrant colors, but because they lie next to each other on the color wheel, there is very little contrast. As a result, you can use these bold colors together and still create a space that is pleasing to the eye.
A Sangria red accent wall puts the focus on the tub in this bathroom. Pops of orange add a lighthearted touch.
Using berry-red with purple creates a classic Victorian color palette.
Tip: This type of color scheme works best in a traditional space.

Red dining chairs can turn any table into a dramatic focal point.
Tip: If you're using red with purple but want the red to really stand out, use a muted shade of purple. It won't compete with the red.

Create a warm, contemporary space by adding only citrus colors to red. Choose from orange, lemon, lime or add all three.
