Here's what I'd do. (lots of pics and ideas)
get rid of the OTR micro and have a built in model put in the island or below in modified drawer space.
Just to show you mine, I moved it to under the wall oven. So much better.
before
after. took out those two drawers for the space. And,I had them make me a custom vent hood cover for my insert.
Since you're painting, like I did, this is easy enough to modify by a carpenter who prob works for the painting company. Make sure you have a Kitchen Cab painter and not a house painter.
find out what their exact steps are (do they remove everything and go back to the shop? do they sand, prime and sand AGAIN? do they spray on site (the skeleton bases. everything else should be sprayed at the shop)
what kind of paint are they using? my guys used a spray lacquer matched to my color (I did Simply White but they said they went one shade brighter)
Compared here to my walls and trim, which are Simply White, it's identical
If all you want to do is paint w/o doing any modifications to the cabs/doors/ micro, even the fridge (more on that later), this is what you're going to end up with:
This was a very cheap redo. fine if that's all you have.
but I see you went w/a very modern looking quartz (which really doesn't fit your cabinets or the overall style) This is why I'm going to suggest a few more things.
now lets address the actual cabinets. you have that long row w/all that space above.
Have you thought about adding some boxes to the top?
Another poster on here took my advice and did just that. next 3 pics
they can easisly be built w/pre made doors to go over them.
or, you can buy ready made raw oak. top w/filler and crown (c below)
open boxes
all diff ways to do it (this one added the boxes and then refaced w/taller door fronts)
simple boxes w/glass
you could also do a higher fill in piece and then get a thicker crown
It might also be a good idea to add some glass in a few of those upper doors to break up the long run of cabinets. Here's a simple redo w/some glass. consider it for yours.
Fridge. Counter depth. huge diff. And get rid of that useless cabinet above it that you can't reach.
They have tons of tutorials for DIY fridge surrounds. or maybe the painting place can also make one of these
you see how flush this is next to the countertops? see how nice the space is above?
Again, dozens of ways to do this too. Look it up and see all the options and cute ideas
This is an eyesore left as is. (you have any room to push it back a few inches into the wall?)
Colors. get some sample doors painted. find some oak castoff doors somewhere and practice. prime them and paint. bring it inside your kitchen to see how it looks
Here's BM Coventry Gray

Maybe you like a two tone?
The island. I'd take off that dated looking baseboard for starters. If all you want to do is paint, fine. replace w/5" simple baseboards (you don't have to do the planks above them. )
simple batten vertical planks would take the look up a notch
Simple to do. get some poplar trim pieces and use a finish nailer to attatch them. prime and paint
this would look 10X better
even this T&G type of beadboard trim would look nice.
So, to get the kitchen to match the countertops you've already installed, everything else has to be brought up to it's level. Otherwise, major fail.
