why is water resistant so important? do you plan on having pool parties in the living area? lol. I mean, it's fine to drop of glass of water or spill a bowl of soup on the floor, any floor, even wood. it's not going to ruin it.
It appears you have a mcm of 70's style home. are you maintaining that look? what about the wood wall accent and ceiling? are you leaving it as is? (I like it) I ask because putting down todays 'vinyl flooring' and trying to match that wood look isn't going to work.
there is another post on here w/a similar question
https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5869971/what-to-do-with-the-floors-with-wood-ceiling
This poster had this house w/similar ceiling to yours but has the oak laminate flooring.
Sorry, but I just think this looks blah next to vintage real wood. it's bringing down the actual look of the room.
which do you think looks better w/the ceilings? the oak laminate above ^
Or, this natural wood floor in this pic:
this one^, of course.
The comment above, this is that flooring recommendation (the IvyHill Cotton)
in the cotton color:
sorry, but this is a very poor choice. it competes w/the look the natural wood.
This one is MSI in more of a grayer tone, which is nice, but not the right shade for you warm wood tones.
They do have the IvyHill flooring in the Night Sky color. I think this is better than the cotton color:
Is there a reason why you just can't do a nice engineered wood floor? So much better looking and will never go out of style.
I would do your home just like pictured here. this is a simple red or white oak, natural finish flooring.
Or this one.
Love the look of this
or any of these.
reminds me of your wall accent. notice the light, the oak floor, the furniture, white walls,
This flooring is red oak. if you use a white oak, you won't get the reddish tint to it.
I hope you don't, but even if you opt to paint the ceiling, the wood floor is still nice
don't know if you have a fireplace, but black with the wood looks stunning. (this has a white oak floor)
these ceilings are like yours. the simple oak flooring looks great with it and will last you a lifetime. don't do the vinyl. Please consider an oak engineered plank. even a solid wood is fine too, but the engineered will be just as good.
I really like your new house. congrats. take a look at a lot of these pics and consider going w/the wood flooring. (and if you can actually find a laminate flooring that looks like a white oak, you could absolutely do that too. it's just that quality-wise, a really good looking vinyl plank is going to be very similar in cost to a real engineered wood plank. I redid my floors in a wide plank engineered french oak and love it! I've spilled all sorts of things on it. no problem
