Hi, we just went through the FORM Kitchens process, and I have to agree with many of the posts here - it was a great experience from start to finish. Does take a while since cabinets have to get fabricated and shipped from a German facility that is probably working through long queues, but we thought it was well worth it. Starting with the design phase, we worked with Janel who was super helpful over several weeks of reviews and revisions. Moreover, it was only after the installation was complete that we realized how much thought she had given to the smallest details such as fractional inches (literaly by millimeters) that would affect how we could open doors and drawers. During installation, support was readily available from the team at FORM that could address how the components should be installed. If you go with FORM, I'd highly recommend your GC take advantage of the super brief, pre-installation call to go over the installation process.
Before going with FORM, we spent several weeks shopping around, and some of the quotes we received were ridiculous. We didn't want to deal with any of the folks that just loved to get away with marking prices up, and we loved that FORM was super transparent along the way. Plus, it became obvious after shopping around that using FORM was saving us a pretty significant amount from going with equivalent cabinets by European manufacturers, that are sold through brick and mortar design shops (even after accounting for discount promotions some of the others were providing).
In terms of quality, I have to give it two thumbs up. Going with European cabinets does mean you have to accept recycled materials, as well as pre-fabricated sizes - which, if you care about the environment is a big plus. But if you have heart set on solid wood and perfect fit in every corner, then custom local cabs is probably the only option. With that said, the components used in the FORM (Nobilia) cabinets are of highest quality. The measurements down to every drill hole are flawless, which one might naturally expect with German engineering.
BTW, the up-front rendering really helped us visualize what our design choices were going to look and feel like up front. I've attached photos of both the initial rendering and the final kitchen so you can see how "on the nose" that initial rendering was.
